For a commercial refrigeration buyer, GRACE CE documentation needs to answer more than whether a CE logo appears on a brochure. The useful question is whether the exact model number, electrical rating, conformity document and supporting report match the equipment being ordered.
GRACE has prepared a 2026 conformity-document package for three core commercial refrigeration categories: upright refrigerator freezers, counter refrigerator freezers, and saladettes/salad bars. This page publishes the exact document numbers, standards and model scope so distributors, kitchen consultants, contractors and procurement teams can check the evidence against a quotation or equipment schedule.
Evidence reviewed: 12 PDFs and 465 pages—six Verifications of Conformity and six supporting test reports. This article links the six Verification PDFs; the six supporting test reports are available from GRACE on request for project review.

What Was Actually Tested?
The six supporting reports identify one representative test model for each family:
- Upright refrigerator freezer: GR-GN1480F2DA
- Counter refrigerator freezer: GR-3DF2025A
- Saladette/salad bar: GR-300AP
The reports state that the other models in each listed family differ by model designation or appearance and, in the safety reports, rated power. The EMC reports record the applicable test items as passing for the representative samples. The safety reports state that the submitted samples complied with the listed standards.
This distinction matters. Each Verification of Conformity says it is based on a single evaluation of tested samples, does not imply an assessment of the whole production, and does not permit use of the testing laboratory’s logo. Buyers should therefore match the exact model and document revision rather than treating a CE image as a blanket factory approval.

Which EU Directives and EN Standards Are Referenced?
| Documentation area | EU instrument named on the verification | Standards named on the verification |
|---|---|---|
| Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) | Directive 2014/30/EU | EN IEC 55014-1:2021; EN IEC 61000-3-2:2019 + A1:2021 + A2:2024; EN 61000-3-3:2013 + A1:2019 + A2:2021; EN IEC 55014-2:2021 |
| Electrical safety and machinery | Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU; Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 | EN IEC 60335-2-89:2022 + A11:2022; EN 60335-1:2012 + A11:2014 + A13:2017 + A1:2019 + A14:2019 + A2:2019 + A15:2021 + A16:2023; EN 62233:2008 |
The EMC documents address electromagnetic emissions and immunity. The safety documents cite the commercial-refrigeration appliance standard together with the general appliance safety standard and the electromagnetic-field assessment standard.
The conformity documents also reference IEC 61000-4-2, IEC 61000-4-3, IEC 61000-4-4, IEC 61000-4-5, IEC 61000-4-6 and IEC 61000-4-11 as EMC immunity test methods.
The signed LVD/MR verifications name Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230. At this article’s publication date, the regulation has been adopted but does not apply on a mandatory basis until January 20, 2027. The European Commission’s machinery legislation page states that machinery placed on the EU market before that date must comply with Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC; manufacturers may also state conformity with Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 where applicable. For an actual shipment, request the manufacturer’s EU Declaration of Conformity and confirm that it identifies the legislation applicable when the product is placed on the market.
What Does CE Mean for a Commercial Refrigeration Buyer?
CE marking is a manufacturer’s declaration that a product meets the applicable EU requirements; it is not a quality grade and it is not an approval granted by a central EU authority. The European Union’s official CE marking guidance explains the manufacturer’s responsibility for conformity assessment, technical documentation and the EU Declaration of Conformity.
The underlying test reports may form part of the manufacturer’s supporting technical evidence. The separate Anxin Verifications of Conformity are voluntary third-party documents; they are not EU notified-body certificates. Neither the reports nor the verifications replace the applicable conformity-assessment procedure, technical documentation, manufacturer’s EU Declaration of Conformity, product rating label, instructions, risk assessment or any market-specific registration.
For a broader comparison of CE, ETL, NSF, CB and destination-country schemes, read the GRACE commercial kitchen equipment certification guide.
Why Is CE Documentation Important When Buying Commercial Refrigeration?
For 220-240 V AC commercial refrigeration equipment within the scope of CE-marking legislation, compliance with all applicable requirements—and completion of the required conformity assessment, technical documentation, EU Declaration of Conformity and CE marking before placement on the market—is a legal condition for placing the product on the EEA market. CE is therefore not an optional marketing badge. The underlying test reports may form part of the manufacturer’s supporting technical evidence. The separate Anxin Verifications of Conformity are voluntary third-party documents; they do not replace the manufacturer’s EU Declaration of Conformity, the prescribed conformity-assessment process or the manufacturer’s legal responsibility.
Clear, model-specific CE documentation helps buyers at four practical stages:
- Pre-purchase qualification: A distributor, consultant or contractor can check whether the full model designation and electrical rating are within the documented scope before approving a quotation.
- Tender and technical submittal review: Document numbers, referenced standards and model schedules give the project team searchable evidence instead of a standalone CE logo.
- Importer and market-surveillance checks: The responsible economic operator can connect the product, rating label, EU Declaration of Conformity and supporting technical file if documents are requested.
- Shipment risk control: Matching the ordered model and destination rules before production reduces the risk of missing documents, incorrect labels or avoidable clearance delays.
CE documentation does not guarantee product performance, replace warranty inspection, or prove that every unit in a model family was individually tested. Its value comes from accurate product identification, traceable evidence and a complete compliance process for the destination market.
Where Is CE Marking Required or Recognized for Commercial Refrigeration?
The answer depends on the destination, the exact product configuration and every law that applies when the equipment is placed on the market. The following summary is current as of this article’s publication date.
| Destination market | Practical CE status for covered commercial refrigeration equipment |
|---|---|
| 27 European Union Member States | Where one or more applicable EU acts require CE marking, the manufacturer must complete the prescribed conformity-assessment procedure, prepare the technical documentation, draw up the EU Declaration of Conformity and affix the CE marking before placing the product on the EU market. CE marking does not replace compliance with other applicable product or market requirements. The European Commission explains these responsibilities in its official CE marking guidance. |
| Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway | These are the three EEA EFTA states. CE-marking rules under EU product legislation incorporated into the EEA Agreement apply throughout the EEA, subject to any EEA adaptations or incorporation dates. Confirm the rules in force for the exact product when it is placed on the market. |
| Turquía | Electrical equipment covered by Türkiye’s corresponding technical legislation—including equipment within 50-1,000 V AC under its LVD-aligned rules—is required to bear CE marking. CE marking does not remove Turkish import inspection, importer, registration, documentation or other product-specific requirements; confirm the exact model and current import rules with the Turkish importer. See the Turkish Ministry of Trade electrical-equipment guidance. |
| Northern Ireland | Relevant EU product rules continue to apply in Northern Ireland. Electrical equipment within scope normally bears CE marking. If the applicable rules require mandatory third-party conformity assessment and a UK notified body performs that assessment, the product must bear CE plus UKNI. UKNI is never used alone, and a CE+UKNI product cannot be placed on the EEA market. See the UK government’s Northern Ireland CE/UKNI guidance. |
| Great Britain: England, Scotland and Wales | Great Britain is not part of the EU or EEA. Under the rules in force as of August 25, 2026, businesses may use either CE or UKCA marking for electrical equipment and electromagnetic-compatibility products placed on the GB market. The product must nevertheless satisfy all applicable GB requirements, including, where relevant, importer identification, traceability, English-language instructions, ecodesign and energy-information duties. Check the UK government’s current sector-by-sector marking table. |
| Other countries and regions | CE may be requested by a distributor, hotel project, consultant or tender as supporting technical evidence, but it does not automatically provide legal market access. Local electrical-safety, EMC, plug, importer, energy-efficiency, refrigerant, sanitation, registration and labelling rules may still apply. |
The EU Member States are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden. The EEA comprises these 27 EU states plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, for a total of 30 states. In this list, “Ireland” means the Republic of Ireland; Northern Ireland follows the separate rules shown above. Switzerland is an EFTA member but not an EEA member and is not included in this EEA market statement.
Switzerland, EU candidate countries, Gulf markets, Africa, Asia and the Americas should therefore be checked under their own destination rules. A buyer may accept CE reports as useful evidence, but that is different from CE being the locally required conformity marking.
How Should Buyers Verify a GRACE Refrigeration Model?
Use this five-step check before approving a submittal or shipment:
- Match the exact model designation. A similar cabinet name or door count is not enough; the full model string must appear in the applicable schedule.
- Match the electrical rating. Compare 220-240 V~, 50/60 Hz and the model-specific power and current against the quotation, rating label and destination supply.
- Match the document pair. Check the EMC verification and report together with the LVD/MR verification and safety report for the same product family.
- Request the current technical file documents. This should include the applicable Verification of Conformity, supporting report, manufacturer’s Declaration of Conformity, rating-label artwork, instructions and any project-specific submittal documents.
- Confirm destination requirements. CE documentation does not automatically satisfy every national import, energy-efficiency, sanitation or conformity scheme. Confirm the current requirement with the project consultant, conformity-assessment provider or customs broker.
Because the six Verifications of Conformity do not print an expiry date, buyers should ask GRACE to confirm that the supplied copy is the latest controlled version and still matches the product configuration being ordered.
