How to Compare Commercial Kitchen Equipment Quotes from China
A practical guide for African restaurant, hotel and resort buyers: compare equipment specifications, project scope and delivery arrangements before you confirm an order.

Two suppliers can quote for the same restaurant kitchen and arrive at very different totals. The difference may come from equipment capacity, construction, accessories, custom fabrication or the services included in the proposal.
To compare commercial kitchen equipment quotes from China, start with the same project brief and check each offer against a shared equipment schedule. This helps your purchasing team understand what each price covers and which proposal fits your operation.
For African buyers preparing a China visit or reviewing proposals after the Canton Fair, the following checklist turns a collection of quotations into a clearer purchasing decision.
01 / START WITH THE SAME REQUIREMENTS
Give every supplier the same project brief
Before comparing prices, send each supplier the same floor plan, menu, expected meals per service and equipment requirements. Include the project country and city, target opening date, and the electrical, gas and water information available for the site.
If your equipment list is still being developed, ask the supplier to identify the assumptions behind its proposal. These may include the proposed oven capacity, refrigeration volume, preparation areas or dishwasher output. Record any alternatives separately so that they can be evaluated alongside the base proposal.
Bring this to your supplier meeting
A dimensioned floor plan, a menu or foodservice concept, expected meals per service, site connection details and your opening schedule. For trip preparation, see our Canton Fair kitchen equipment guide for African buyers.
02 / COMPARE EACH LINE ITEM
What should a commercial kitchen equipment quotation include?
A clear quotation connects each item to a model, quantity, specification and kitchen zone. Use this checklist to request missing details and bring competing proposals onto a common basis.
| Compare | Ask the proposal to show | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Model and quantity | Manufacturer or brand, model reference, item number and quantity. | Similar product names can describe different machines. |
| Capacity and performance | Relevant tray, tank or storage capacity; stated output and its operating conditions where available. | The equipment needs to match your menu and busiest service period. |
| Dimensions and layout | Equipment dimensions, required clearances and location on the drawing. | The proposed items must fit the planned kitchen and its access routes. |
| Materials and construction | Specified materials for food-contact surfaces, worktops and other relevant components. | Construction specifications can differ between apparently similar items. |
| Site connections | Voltage, phase, frequency, electrical load, gas type and pressure, plus relevant water and drainage requirements. | Your project team needs this information to coordinate the site. |
| Accessories | Included trays, baskets, racks, stands, connectors or other model-specific accessories. | Accessories can change the usable configuration and quoted total. |
| Commercial terms | Currency, quotation validity, payment milestones, delivery basis and named place or port. | The purchasing team needs a consistent basis for comparing offers. |
| Documents and support | Manuals, applicable conformity documents, warranty terms, spare parts arrangements and agreed technical support. | Handover and ongoing support should be clear before ordering. |
ILLUSTRATIVE QUOTATION WORDING
A short item description
“Gas range with oven — 1 unit.”
A description you can compare
“Gas range with oven — model reference, burner configuration, oven capacity, dimensions, gas specification, included accessories and quantity.”
This is a description example, not a customer quotation. Request the actual specification sheet for the proposed model.
For equipment planning by kitchen zone, use our hotel kitchen equipment list alongside your project drawing.
03 / CHECK THE WHOLE KITCHEN
Make sure the quotations cover the same project scope
Compare the complete equipment schedule across cooking, refrigeration, preparation, washing, storage and any bar, bakery or buffet areas. Mark each item as included, optional or supplied by another party. Apply the same approach to custom stainless steel work and site-related services.
GRACE’s two Kenya project references show why the intended operation matters:
NAIROBI, KENYA · RESTAURANT
Cobblestone House
107 m² kitchen
The project equipment list covers cooking, preparation, refrigeration, bar equipment and warewashing. A comparison should account for these supporting areas as well as the cooking line.
LIMURU, KENYA · RESORT
Ridge Cabin Resort
460 m² kitchen
The project materials cover receiving, storage, preparation, cooking, pastry and washing areas, with equipment lists also covering bar and buffet functions. A proposal for this type of operation needs a coordinated schedule across several areas.
Explore the project photographs and planning examples in our supplier selection guide with completed Kenya kitchen projects.

When one quotation differs from another, ask which specification or scope item explains the difference. Keep the equipment schedule and drawing revision aligned as the proposal develops.
04 / FOLLOW THE ORDER THROUGH TO HANDOVER
Review packing, delivery and support alongside the equipment
Record the quoted delivery basis and named place or port. Ask the supplier to identify which packing, transport, insurance, destination handling and onward-delivery items are included. Use those agreed details when your team prepares the overall project budget.
Clarify the production lead time and the point from which it starts, such as drawing approval or the agreed payment milestone. Keep production, transport and site-readiness dates visible in the project schedule.
For installation and handover, agree who is responsible for site preparation, unloading, equipment connections, commissioning and staff guidance. Where support is remote or on site, record the agreed method and scope. Request the corresponding technical and conformity documents for the selected equipment.
Warranty discussions should cover the warranty period and start date, covered items, exclusions, claim procedure and responsibility for parts, labour and freight. Ask how your team will identify and obtain spare parts for the selected models.

Confirm the final revision before placing an order
Bring the selected equipment list, approved drawing, technical specifications, accessories, delivery arrangements and support terms together in the final quotation or order documents. Make sure optional upgrades and customer-supplied items are clearly identified.
If you are reviewing the proposal during a China visit, use the meeting to resolve outstanding specifications and agree who will provide the next revision. Keep a written list of the remaining decisions and the documents needed to complete them.
BUYER QUESTIONS
Before you request a quotation
Can I request a proposal without a complete equipment list?
Yes. Send GRACE your floor plan, kitchen concept or menu, expected meals per service, project location and target opening date. Our team can review the information and discuss an equipment proposal with you.
Can I compare quotations using the total price alone?
First check that the proposals cover the same models or equivalent specifications, quantities, accessories, delivery basis and support scope. Compare totals once the differences have been identified.
What should I bring to a supplier meeting in China?
Bring your latest floor plan, menu, equipment schedule, available site connection information and project timeline. Include the quotation revisions and specification questions you want to resolve.
SEND YOUR PROJECT BRIEF
